How my journey began

My name is Carla Alvarez. I started my health and fitness journey when I was 20 years old. Growing up I was a chunky kid, and too be honest, looking back at that kid now to me she was not chunky, but people always made comments about my weight. In middle school I was curvy, and in high school I was also on the curvier side - 155 lbs 5’6’’. After high school, I met my now husband, and from what I understand I gained “love weight.” I didn’t really see it, I obviously noticed it with my clothes, but I didn’t really see the weight gain. During that time we also moved to a new town, and just a lot life changes. I keep gaining weight, and by this point I was not fitting into most of my clothes. I went from a size 10 to a size 16. I was misereable, back then there was not a lot of stylish clothes either, at least not where I was trying to shop for in my size. I was not fitting into the pants. I was crying in the fitting rooms, frustrated at how all the clothes that looked “big” I was not fitting into.

One evening in my kitchen while standing in front of the stove my ankles started to ache, they really were bothering me. I was by this point feeling lethargic. I was just very uncomfortable, and I was only 20 years old. I thought to myself “how is this happening?” more crying came this time in my kitchen. A voice within said that I needed to buy a scale. And that’s exactly what I did. I went and purchased a scale the very next day. I don’t know why, but I remember being excited. I got home, unboxed the scale, and stepped on.

Whoa! the scale read back 190 lbs. I was shacking. How had I gained 40 lbs? More crying. I didn’t know what to do. I had never really been active, I always wanted to take on running, but was never consistent. I had gym memberships that always went unused. I had attempted LA weighloss before, and I was never consistent, I was never determined.

That weekend I took on running, and, whoa! It was hard! I had never, ever, done 3 miles in my life. Well, not willingly anyhow. That day I did. I don’t remember how long it took me, but it took me probably an hour or so. The next day, I did another 3 miles. Walking, and then I started running, and walking. And the next day, SAME THING! I just started doing. I just started going. I was so determined. By that point I remember just eating salads. I also started drinking shakes, I just started doing the things.

I don’t know how long it took me, but I managed to lose the weight. I went from walking 3 miles and being exhausted, to now jogging 3 miles, every day! It was night and day!

I got to 160 lbs by my 21 st birthday, and I remember feeling so good! I purchased a LBD from Guess, and I would never forget how amazingly sexy I felt, I had gained confidence. I kept going, and doing the things, and I don’t recall how long it took me, but I managed to lose over 50 lbs.

And here I am today, wanting to help women gain their confidence, to take their life back. I am here to help you, and I am here to provide guidance, with fitness, personal development, and balanced meals.
